Tuesday 7th December 2010

Hi

Great experiments today....they both worked !!!! well for some people blowing a fuse in the power pack did cause a wee problem....

Don't forget fuse sizes and the difference between ac and dc.

Next lesson we shall look at what ac and dc look like on the oscilloscope and how we can compare the peak ac voltage with dc.

Don't forget to do your homework which is due on Friday..no late submissions...

Hope the journey home wasn't too cold.

Come and talk to me if you have any problems.

Homework is the handout sheets I gave you....please do not give me the answers on the handout sheet....do them properly on paper. Don't forget to show all your working.

This homework is due on Friday 10th December...no late hand ins please

Wednesday 1 December 2010

Wednesday 1st December 2010

Well done to those of you who got in to school.

For those of you who missed class here is what we did...please do the work - solutions will be issued next class.

Read the theory of potential dividers - page 31.... ...they are also known as voltage dividers. Check your data book the equation is in there - page 3 second column ....
The bigger the resistor the bigger the chunk of voltage that you will measure across it.
Try the example on page 33 the answer is 8 V.

For next lesson ...
1. Complete the questions on pages 28 to 30 (nos 1 to 15 - your homework for today (Wednesday) was nos 1 to 7).
2. Do the questions on page 34 / 35

Both of the above are to be completed for Friday 3rd December.

Keep safe and warm

Friday 26 November 2010

Friday 26th November 2010

Resistance in parallel.....not quite as straight forward as resistance in series....take care when you are doing these questions....so easy to forget the last step.

Some examples will have helped...

You handled the experiments well...we shall talk more about potential dividers next lesson...

Homework for next lesson..1st December is page 28 /29 nos 1 to 7

Have a good weekend

Wednesday 24th November 2010

NAB ..well done to those who passed and 'we will work together' to those who failed.

Experiment to find resistance and series and parallel went well....more on how to calculate it in parallel next lesson.

Homework for Friday is page 26 nos 1,2,5,8,9

Any questions you know where to come
